The highest Hotel in the Cotswolds
This beautiful Cotswold Way National Trail runs across Cleeve Common on its 102 mile meander from Chipping Campden all the way through to Bath. Whether you’re walking it in one go, over a series of weekends or just doing a patch as a Sunday stroll we’ve got all the information you might need on this page.

The Hotel sits on the edge of Cleeve Common, with panoramic views across to the Malvern Hills. The Common is over a 1000 acres in size and the Cotswold Way runs across the highest point. On a good day you can see the Black Mountains and the Severn Bridge. The Common is also an area of outstanding natural beauty, so you could spot some rare plants and beautiful birds. Click here for a map.
The Hotel is only 5 minutes walk from the Way. There are some simple guidelines we have written on how to reach the Hotel from either direction on the Cotswold Way. You can find those directions here.
We have thought about your safety as much as possible and the directions ensure you don’t need to use the main road to reach the Hotel.
Please be mindful of the other people and animals on the Common. There is a busy golf course that you will walk around to reach the Hotel. There may well be sheep, grass snakes and rabbits around, horse riders and dog walkers as well. There are also a herd of cows to keep an eye out for. It may sound busy but the peace and tranquility is to be enjoyed and relished on your way to a warm welcome at Cleeve Hill Hotel, the perfect place to start to unwind.
On arrival at the Hotel, there is a fully equipped boot room for you to take advantage of.
Situated to the rear of the Hotel, the boot room is ready for you no matter how muddy, wet or exhausted you are. You can relax knowing you’ve got a warm (or cool), dry area to rest; you’ve finished your walk for the day!
There’s newspaper to dry your boots, hangers for wet items to air and brushes for the morning to get the mud off.
We’re more than happy for luggage to be delivered, and actually have numerous bags delivered every day during walking season.
If you are curious on where to eat along the Cotswold Way there’s some information here for the Cleeve Hill to Birdlip section. If you’re walking north, Winchcombe has many options that you can enjoy.
We’ve got maps and guides in the Hotel to help you plan your next day and offer advice if you’re unsure on your next steps.
You’re more than welcome to relax with a drink from the Honesty Bar, or a cup of tea, once settled in to your comfortable room. In the morning before you depart you can help yourself to a continental buffet and, if you’d like, a full English breakfast.

We host many walkers every year and see a variety of ways people have planned their trips.
The majority of walkers use a travel agent to organise their walk. There are around twelve that connect with the Hotel from around the globe.
For those that are planning to walk the Way and organise the stay themselves, we understand that you need to get a number of nights in a row. Please feel free to use our ‘Book Now’ button to check availability, or drop us an email here. We don’t mind holding rooms whilst you plan your trip.
We are also aware that on the availability screen you may see a minimum length of stay restriction on a day you’re looking to stay. If this is the case, again, please get in contact and we can discuss what we can do to help.
There are lots of websites that you can use to research the Cotswold Way, look at our FAQ’s if you want to see some suggestions.
